Seeing that I love birds I thought this post from Squirrel Basket would be nice for my fellow bloggers to enjoy.
Juvenile great spotted woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)
In May and June there have been plenty of baby birds in the garden and I have been trying to capture them. Mostly I have been disappointed. My pictures are rubbish, really. But I felt I wanted to share them just to prove the variety of species we have breeding in our backyard.

We also get much pleasure from the birds in our garden…New Holland Honey Eaters, blackbirds, wattle birds, sparrows, spotted doves and various small parrots. We love watching them feed their young and teaching them to wash in our five bird baths.

Sounds wonderful Anne. I must put a bird bath in our garden. Problem is the water attracts Mosquitos.

In the summer, we wash bird baths out 3 or 4 times a day with hose, waters garden at same time…gets rid of mozzies..birds eat them too of course! 💖
